Age structure and growth rate of feral population of C. madrasensis were studied for 2 y. The mean shell lengths were 9.15 and 14.2 cm at the end of the 1st and 2nd y respectively. Von Bertalanffy's growth equation obtained was Lt = 32.80 {1-e-0.0524[t-(-1.30)]}. The present data indicate that oysters of Mulki Estuary have one of the fastest growth rates ever reported in edible oysters.en_US
