Effect of Cu, Ag and Zn on byssogenesis in Perna viridis has been evaluated following static bioassay techniques, and the rate of byssus thread production estimated. Effective concentrations resulting in 50% (EC50) reduction of thread production are 0.02, 0.025 and 0.4 x 10-6 for Ag, Cu and Zn respectively. Combined effects of Ag and Cu on byssogenesis proved to be less than the additive (-0.6) effect.en_US
