Abstract: Tide charts of Paradip Port, Orissa, India from 1966 to 1975 have been analysed and tide characteristics calculated. Monthly mean sealevel varies with 2 maxima and 2 minima. Variations in monthly mean sealevels during different seasons have been examined in relation to various meteorological parameters and offshore circulation, and have been found to be primarily related to variations in heating and cooling during summer and winter respectively, in addition to differences in the distribution of monthly rainfall and changes in the direction of monsoon winds.
