Acanthophora specifera, Gracilaria corticata and Hypnea musciformis, collected from the intertidal regions, were analysed for their lipid content and fatty acid composition by GLC. The mixed fatty acids were rich in saturated acids, palmitic acid being the major component. Among the unsaturated acids, oleic acid was predominant. Polyunsaturated as well as lower fatty acids were absent.en_US
