A series of macrocyclic complexes of the type [M(OTDCH)(H2O)2]X2 where M = Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II); OTDCH = 1,5,6,8,9,13,14,16-octaaza-2, 4, 10, 12, -tetraoxo-7, 15-dithia-l, 3, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 11, 13, 14, 16- dodecahydrocyclohexadecane; X = CI-, Br- have been synthesised by the action of CS2 on the precursor complex such as bis-(l, 5-diamino-l, 5-diaza-2, 4- dioxopentane) chelates of the above metal ions, The complexes have been characterised on the basis of elemental arialyses and spectral, magnetic, conductivity, thermal and electrochemical studies. The results indicate the complexes to be in an approximately octahedral environment. The electrochemical data of the complexes indicate step-wise reduction involving one-electron transfer in each step.en_US
