The reaction of equimolar mixture of copper and zinc powders with aqueous solution of imidazole (HIm) (1: 1 :2) and only in the presence of excess hydrogen peroxide results in the formation of a novel homogeneous mixed metal peroxo complex [Cu, Zn (O)2 (O.5 HIm)(H2O)3]. The above reaction, when carried out in the absence of zinc gives a new compound [Cu(O)(O.5 HIm)(H2O)2] These compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, electronic, IR and ESR spectral data and thermogravimetric analysis. It is interesting to note the mutual influence of Cu and Zn on the formation of a novel hetero nuclear peroxy imidazole complex.en_US
