Abstract: The conductivity measurements of the solutions of copper caprylate, laurate and myristate in benzenemethanol mixture (70/30, v/v) have been carried out at 35-50°C (± 0.05°C) in order to determine the CMC, limiting molar conductance, degree of dissociation, dissociation constant and thermodynamic parameters both for dissociation and micellization processes. The results indicate that these soaps behave as weak electrolytes in dilute solutions and Debye-Huckel-Onsager equation is not applicable to the non-aqueous solutions of these soaps. The CMC values increase with increase in temperature. The thermodynamic results suggest that the micellization is a more favourable process in these soap solutions.
