Abstract: Electroosmotic permeation studies across a pyrex membrane with and without impregnation with aluminium hydroxide, using binary methanol-benzene mixtures have been carried out. Variation of electroosmotic permeability with composition has been examined. These results in conjunction with the membrane conductance measurements have been used to determine the electrical character of the membranepermeant interphasial region responsible for electroosmotic activity. Attempt has also been made to examine the results in the light of intermolecular interactions amongst the constituents of the mixtures.
