| Abstract: | Impedance measurements on the surfactants cholesterol and lecithin, and their mixtures have been carried out to demonstrate that accumulation of completely formed immobilized layers in the membrane-solution interfacial region occurs when concentration of the surfactants in solution exceeds critical micelle concentration. Examination of the results also indicates existence of strong intermolecular interactions when surfactant mixtures are used. Alteration in the membrane electrochemical parameters like permselectivity and fixed charge density, when surfactants are used separately or in combination, has also been investigated. |
