Re-entrant isotropic phase occurring in a binary mixture of (R,R) and (S,S) enantiomers of L4TAC which exhibits only a SmQ phase is reported. Reentrant isotropic behaviour is shown on both sides of the diagram of state which itself is the first system to our knowledge with the polymorphy : Isotropic - SmA - re-entrant isotropic - SmQ - crystalline. In this binary system, a drop in the clearing point temperature of about 60°C is observed in the concentration range of about 5 mol%. Moreover, an unusual polymorphy has been observed in this binary system.en_US
