| Abstract: | The adsorption behaviour of some styryl pyridinium dyes on alkali treated silica (alkali-silica) has been investigated. The surface area of alkali-silica is found to be more than the untreated silica. The adsorption isotherm and adsorption kinetics have been discussed in the light of molecular behaviour of the adsorbate. A cooperative adsorption of the dye on the alkali-silica surface has been observed, Hemirnicellization has been proposed during the adsorption of the dyes. |
