Abstract: The overall thermodynamic stability constants ( log b2) of the reaction Cu(l) + 2L = [CuL2] where Cu(l) is in the form of [Cu(MeCN)4]CIO4 and L= N(l)-aJkyl-2-arylazoimidazole (L1-L3) and 2-(aryhizo)pyridine (L4) have been studied in MeOH, cyclic voltammetrically using the method of Lingane. The data reveal that the p-chloroarylazoheterocycles (c) provide the highest stability and pyridine-substituent ( L4) show greater stability than imidazole derivatives (L1-L3) to the copper(I) complexes.
