Abstract: The relative merits of the method for obtaining single ion B coefficient values of Jones-Dole equation for aqueous and various non-aqueous solvents over other methods of division have been discussed utilizing a theoretical model based on Einstein's hydrodynamic theory applied to tetraalkylammonium ions in acetonitrile system. Other solvent systems have also been considered to show the extent of departure from the ideal behaviour. Ionic B coefficients derived by the present method have been shown to be quantitatively related to the experimental ionic partial molar volumes. Eyring's equation for viscosity, using Frank-Wen's model of ion-solvent interaction, has been used for calculation of void viscosity and electrostriction viscosity. These are then compared with the corresponding component of partial molar volumes.
