Abstract: Findings on the interaction of Zn with cysteine, histidine, cysteine ester and histidine ester, as a model for Zn center in TF IIIA, based on pH-metry, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy are reported. It is interesting to note that the histidine and cysteine act as bidentate ligands. The coordination sites and geometry around Zn are assigned. The conclusions from this model are in agreement with Zn binding sites in TF IIIA. Further, the results suggest an important functional role for the Zn core.
