Spectral studies on some newly synthesised bis(3-nitro-1,5-diarylformazan)palladium( II) chelates

Abstract

A few bis(3-nitro-1,5-diarylformazan)palladium(II) chelates have been prepared by reacting an acetonic solution of the corresponding 3-nitroforrnazan with palladium- (II) chloride. The complexes have been characterised by elemental analysis, IR and PMR studies. These studies reveal that the coordination of the metal ion occurs through the nitrogen atoms 1 and 5 and that the NO₂ group does not participate in coordination. The structure of these chelates contain two symmetric six membered CN₄Pd rings.
