| Abstract: | The conditions. for the extractive-spectrophotometric determination of Pd(II) with 1-(2¢-aminoaryl-4,4,6-trimethyl- 1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-6-hydroxy pyrimidine-2-thiol (HPT) (1a-c) have been established. The yellow-coloured Pd(II) complex having maximum absorption at 435 nm. can be quantitatively extracted into chloroform. This complex conforms to Beer's law over the concentration range of 1.0-29.6 mg of Pd(II) and forms a 1:4 complex. The proposed method offers excellent mutual separation of Pd(Il) and Fe(III). The method was successfully applied for the determination of Pd(Il) in synthetic mixture, Pd-BaSO4 and Pd-charcoal catalysts. |
