Tetramethylene sulphoxide (TMSO) and dibenzyl sulphoxide (DBSO) use sulphur or oxygen or both as donor sites. Platinum metal chlorides are found to form complexes of the types, ML3Cl3 [where M = Ru(III), Rh(III), Ir(III), L = TMSO, DBSO] and platinum(II) yields the complex Pt(DBSO)2Cl2. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements and IR spectral analysis. Fac- structures has been assigned for ML3Cl3 but mer- is found for Ru2(DBSO)4CI6 and Rh(DBSO)3Cl3 The ESR spectra reveal axial distortion with g1 = 2.192 and g2 = 1.892 for Ru2(DBSO)3CI3 and g = 2. 172 for Ru(TMSO)3CI3.en_US
