| dc.description.abstract | A sensitive method is described for the extractive and spectrophotometric determination of cobalt(II) using p-nitroisonitrosoacetophenone (NHINAP). The reagent forms a yellow coloured 1: 3 chelate which can be extracted into chloroform in the pH range 7.68.4. The complex extracted into chloroform exhibited λmax at 385 nm. Beer's law was obeyed over the concentration range 0.1-4.0 mg/ml of cobalt(II). The molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity were found to be 2.2824 x 104 1 mol-1 cm-1 and 2.63 ng cm-2 respectively at 385 nm. | en_US |
