Abstract: The acceleration effect of thiourea (TU) on electrode kinetics has been studied in mixed solutions of water + acetone (AC) and water + ethanol (EtOH) by' using the electrode reaction of Zn(II)/Zn(Hg). TU accelerates this reaction in all investigated solutions. The standard rate constants of zinc electro reduction is similar at the same degree of electrode coverage with TU in water and mixed solutions. The results suggest that the decisive role in the acceleration is played by the formation of the active complex inside the adsorption layer.
