| Abstract: | Alkylation of 1-naphthylseleno/telluromagnesium bromide, obtained by reacting I-naphthylmagnesium bromide with elemental selenium or tellurium in THF or diethyl ether, yields bivalent alkyl-1-naphthyl selenides/tellurides in excellent yields. The compounds prepared have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H, 13C NMR and mass spectral studies. |
