dc.description.abstractcis-Dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of bi-, tri- and tetra-dentate Schiff bases derived from 2-benzoylpyridine and monoamines, such as, p-anisidine, m-phenetidine or p-toluidine, and diamines, viz., o-, mor p-phenylenediamine are reported. Reactions of the bi-, tri- and tetradentate Schiff bases with [MoO2(acac)2] in ethanol medium in 1: 1, 1: 2 and 1 : 2 molar ratios, respectively, yield diamagnetic molybdenum(VI) monometallic complexes of the composition, cis-[MoO2(L)(OEt)2] (where L= bidentate schiff base derived from monoamine) and the ligand bridged bimetallic complexes, cis-[Mo2O4(L1 )(OEt)4] (where L1 = tridentate schiff base derived from o- or m-phenylenediamine or tetradentate schiff base with p-phenylenediamine). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, IR, UViVis, 1H NMR and CV studies.en_US
