The formation of charge transfer complexes between triethylamine, tributylamine, trioctylamine and the π-acceptors, chloranil and bromanil in 1,2-dichloroethane has been investigated spectrophotometrically. The formation constants of the resulting 1: 1 molecular complexes are determined and the rate of formation constants of monosubstituted products estimated. The stabilities of the complexes of both π- acceptors vary in the order triethylamine > tributylarnine > trioctylamine.en_US
