Abstract: Conductivity and surface tension data have been measured for the aqueous solutions of sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate in pyridine, α-, β- and ϒ-picolines at 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15 K. The observed data have been utilized to evaluate the counter-ion association constant (α) and limiting equivalent conductance (Λ0). Surface and thermodynamic properties of micellization, adsorption at liquid-air interface and transfer of surfactant from aqueous to mixed solvent have been reported. The process of micellization as well as adsorption at liquid-air interface are favoured by enthalpy as well as entropy effects. The observed data have also been analysed in terms of intermolecular interactions operating among the various components in the solution.
