Gallium (III) forms a blue coloured complex with methyl thymol blue, a metallochromic indicator. The complex which was not extracted directly into common organic solvents due to the presence of a large number of anionic centers, was totally extracted into chloroform in the presence of Aliquat-336 in the pH range 4.5-5.0. The ratio of metal:methyl thymol blue:Aliquat-336 has been determined to be 1:2:1.The stepwise and the overall stability constants and extraction constant have been determined.en_US
