X-band EPR spectra of ternary complexes of copper(II) with diethylenetriamine and some imidazoles

Abstract

X-band EPR spectra of ternary complexes, [Cu(dien)L]ⁿ⁺, where dien is a tridentate nitrogen base diethylenetriamine and L is water, imidazole, 2-methylimidazole or 2-ethylimidazole (n=2) and imidazolate, 2-methylimidazolate or 2-ethylimidazolate (n=l) have been studied in solution (DMSO, RT) and in frozen solution (DMSO, LNT). All the complexes show feature for <em>d</em>x²-y² orbital ground state.
