Abstract: A series of base adducts of nickel(lI) chelates of the type NiLB, where L is the dianion of salicylaldehyde 4N-phenylthiosemicarbazone (H2L) have been synthesised and characterized by IR, electronic, 1H and 13C NMR spectra and magnetic measurements. In all these complexes. the ligand H2L behaves as dibasic tridentate (ONS) ligand. The analytical data show a 1:1:1 composition for Ni-L-B (where B = pyridine. piperidine, (β/α-picolines, imidazole, 1,10-phenanthroline or 2,2'-dipyridyl).
