Abstract: A spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of thiram by converting it into dimethyldithiocarbamate and coprecipitating its copper(II) and palladium(II) dimethyldithiocarbamate complexes onto microcrystalline naphthalene. Palladium(II) and copper(lI) complexes absorb strongly at 395 nm and 430 nm, respectively. The molar absorptivities and Sandell's sensitivities for palladium and copper complexes are calculated to be 1.298 x 104 1 mol-1 cm-1 and 0.0185 mg cm-2; and 1.923 x 104 1 mol-1 cm-1 and 0.0125 mg em -2, respectively. The interference of various ions has also been studied.
