Synthesis and isomerization reactions of isotetralenetricarbomyliron complexes

Abstract

Photochemical reaction of isotetralene with Fe(CO)₅ gives the complex isotetralenetricarbonyliron(I), which on treatment with Ph₃CBF₄ affords the trienyl salt C₁₀H₁₁Fe(CO)₃ + BF₄-(II). The trienyl salt(II) on nucleophilic attack by nucleophiles such as diethyl malonate, α-chloroacetate, cyanide and acetylacetonate gives the neutral complexes IlIa, b, c, d respectively where isomerization of coordmation positions occurs.
