| Abstract: | Polyethylene glycol (PEG) promoted functionalization of sp3 C-H bonds of methyl aza -arenes with 3-methyl-4-nitro-5-styrylisoxazoles for construction of isoxazolyl pyridines 3 and quinolines 5 is described. Nitrostyrylisoxazoles are proved to be good C=C elctrophilic acceptors for the construction of various azaarene-containing Michael addition products. Functionalization of sp3 C-H bonds of 3,5-dimethyl-4-nitroisoxazole is also described for synthesis of biologically active isoxazolyl 3-hydroxy-2-oxoindoles 8. |
