Diphenyl butadiene (DPB) exhibits exciplex emission with both aromatic and aliphatic tertiary amines. The dipole moments of the exciplexes have been calculated using Onsager's reaction field equation for liquid dielectrics. These exciplexes also form triple exciplexes with aromatic solvents like benzene and n-donor solvent like dioxan. The lone pair of electrons on the nitrogen atom of tertiary amine takes part in electron transfer process in the exciplex.en_US
