Abstract: A spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of ferric dimethyldithiocarbamate (ferbam) by converting it into iron (II) - 1,10 phenanthroline complex, which is then extracted into mesityl oxide in the presence of perchlorate and measured at 510 nm; Beer's law is obeyed over the ferbam concentration range of 0.5-34.0 μg/ml in the extract. The method is sensitive, selective and can be safely employed for the determination of ferbam in commercial samples and synthetic mixtures containing thiram, ziram, nabam and zineb.
