| Abstract: | The kinetic behaviour of K+/Na+ and Mg2+/Na+ exchange systems on a weak cation exchange resin Bio-Rex 70 in aqueous medium has been studied under conditions of intra particle diffusion and infinite bath. The diffusion coefficient, , is evaluated using isotopic as well as Helfferich equations. The standard free energy changes for Li+/Na+, K+/Na+ and Cs+/Na+ exchange systems have also been evaluated on this resin at 298 K in aqueous solution. The reversal in affinity order is attributed to the higher coulombic attraction offered by the carboxylate group. |
