Cobalt and palladium form extractable complexes with 2-hydroxy-l-naphthaldoxime and phenylthiohydantoic acid respectively under optimum conditions. In both cases Beer's law is obeyed with molar absorptivities 0.826 x 104 (for Co at 400 nm) and 1.303 x 104 (for Pd at 370 nm) 1 mol-1 cm-1. The systems provide excellent recovery of the metals in presence of almost all the common ions tested.en_US
