| Abstract: | The title reaction has been investigated under pseudo-unimolecular conditions with [phen] > [HSO ] > [Fe(III)]. The reaction obeys first order kinetics in [Fe(III)]. The kinetics is interpreted in terms of an inner-sphere reduction of Fe(phen) via formation of the reactive intermediate Fe(phen)2-(SO3H)2+. |
