A few complexes of the type MM'(XCN)4 (dppe)2 (where M = Co2+, Ni2+, Cd2+; M' = Cd2+, Hg2+; X = S, Se; dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic moment, IR and electronic spectral studies. The softness parameters TE of the probable and alternative structures have also been calculated to derive the binding site of the thiocyanate/selenocyanate ligand.en_US
