The machine tool performance is defined mainly by its volumetric accuracy, which is affected by cutting force, thermal deformation and geometric error sources. In this paper, error compensation technology is used for reducing the volumetric errors of a computer numeric control (CNC) machine tool, and the machining accuracy is improved. In order to collect volumetric error samples, a new measurement method based on Kriging interpolation is proposed in this paper, and volumetric errors of the CNC machine tool are measured. In order to fulfill volumetric error compensation, an ordinal decoupling compensation method is applied, compensation model of the machine tool motion is presented. Finally, a volumetric error compensator is designed for compensation experiment of the CNC machine tool, the compensation effect is verified in the end.en_US
