Synthesis and characterization of complexes of nickel(II), copper(II), cobaIt(II) and coba1t(III) with morpholine N-thiohydrazones formed from salicylaldehyde and 2-hydroxyacetophenone

Abstract

The complexes of nickel(II), copper(II), cobalt(II) and cobalt(III) with salicylaldehyde morpholine <em>N-</em>thlohydrazoe (H₂smth) and 2-hydroxyacetophenone morpholine N-thiohydrazone (H₂apmth), have been synthesised, Depending on the pH's of the reaction medium and the nature of the metal salts used the ligands are found to act as monobasic tridentate, dibasic tridentate, monobasic bidentate or neutral. The complexes are characterised by elemental analyses, magnetic moment values, molar conductances and spectroscopic IR, UV-VIS, ¹H NMR and ESR data.
