| dc.description.abstract | Copper(II) complexes of dihydrotriazines formed by the reaction of salicylaldehyde with the metal complexes of N-ethylbiguanide or O-alkylamidinourea produce the corresponding ligand on acid decomposition. The ligands are found to be good chelating agents and form complexes of the type NiL2, PdL2, Pd2L׳2Cl2 and Pt2 L׳Cl2 [where L= 2-o-hydroxyphenyl-4-amino-6-alkoxy-1 ,3,5-triazine, L = 2-o-hydroxyphenyl-4-amino-6-alkoxy-1,2-dihydro-1 ,3,5-triazine and 1-ethyl-2-o-hydroxyphenyl-4,6-diamino-1,2-dihydro-1,3,5-triazinej]. The physicochemical properties of the ligands and the complexes have been investigated to establish their structures. From the infrared and PMR spectral data, the ligands are suggested to behave as O, N donors coordinating through N atom of triazine ring and O atom of the salicylaldehyde fragment. | en_US |
