Abstract: Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies have been carried out on the various water-in-oil quarternary microemulsion systems comprising CCl4-Triton X100-water-n-alkanol at 25ᵒC. Presence of oblate ellipsoidal shaped water droplet microstructure in the dispersed phase has been confirmed. Diffusion coefficient data on the microemulsion systems are obtained from conductivity, viscosity and interfacial tension measurements. On increasing the n-alkalone carbon chain length from methanol to n-octanol, the size of the dispersed phase seems to decrease.
