| Abstract: | Dynamic viscosities, η, have been measured for binary systems of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) with
methylene chloride (CH2Cl2),1,2-dichloroethane (CH2ClCH2Cl), trichloroethene(CHClCCl2), tetrachloro
thene (CCl2CCl2) and cyclohexane (c-C6H12) at 303.15 K. The values of η which refer to the deviations of mixture viscosities from the values arising from mole fraction mixture law are found to be positive
for MEK-CH2Cl2, MEK-CHClCCl2 and MEK-CHClCCl2, and negative for MEK-CH2ClCH2CI
and MEK-c-C6H12. The values of the interaction parameter d have also been calculated from the equation
In ηmix = x1ln η1 + x1ln η2 + x1x2d, where ηmix, η1 and η2 refer to the dynamic viscosities of the mixture
component 1 and component 2 respectively. The parameter d has been found to be positive for
MEK-CH2Cl2, MEK-CH2CICH2Cl, MEK-CHClCCl2 and MEK-CCl2CCl2, and negative for MEK-c-C6H12.Values of Dη and d show that MEK form adducts with CH2Cl2, CH2ClCH2Cl, CHClCCl2 and CCl2CCl2. |
