Abstract: A new chelating polystyrene divinyl-benzene based resin containing quinaldinic acid amide group has been used for the quantitative separation of Pt(IV) and Pd(I1). Maximum sorption values of 0.19 and 0.36 mmol g-1 respectively, were observed around pH 1 for both. The method has been successfully applied for the separation of Pt(IV) and Pd(II) from each other and from noble-base mixtures, as well as from native silver solutions, the average recovery being above 99.9% with 4(M) HCl.
