Rate studies on peroxomonosulphate-nitrite reaction show that the reaction obeys the rate equation,

where Ka is the dissociation constant of HNO2. Values of k0, k1 and k2 K2 are 0.14, 0.31 and 6.4 x 102 dm3 mol-1 s-1, respectively at 25°C.  A comparison with oxidation of HSO by peroxomonosulphate shows that, in atmosphere, NO will not be able to compete with HSO.
