| Abstract: | p-Anisaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (PATSC) has been proposed as a new reagent for the rapid and selective estimation of platinum(II) in 0.25-0.1 M HCl medium. The reagent forms instantaneously a yellow coloured species with platinum(II) at room temperature which is extractable in oxygenated solvents. Optimum parameters have been worked out for the quantitative estimation of platinum(II). Possible analytical applications have been reported and the reliability of the method has been checked with the aid of statistical analysis. The solid complex has also been isolated and characterized by various physicochemical techniques. |
