Electrochemical oxidation of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole(I) has been studied in phosphate buffers in the pH range of 3.0-10.3. Oxidation of I occurs in two well-defined oxidation peaks. The mechanism of peak Ia, has been elucidated and found to give 2,2'-dithiobis(benzothiazole).en_US
