Abstract: The stability constants of the ternary Cu(II)complexes [Cu(A)(L)], where A refers to oxalic acid and malonic acid and L refers to glycine, ɑ-alanine, β-alanine, phenylalanine, tyrosine and trypotophan have been determined potentiometrically using the SCOGS computer programme. The tendency of the ligand L to form the ternary complex decreases in the following order: tryptophan > tyrosine > phenylalanine > ɑ-alanine > glycine > β-alanine. Probable reason for less negative Dlog K values and the order of stabilization have been discussed.
