Abstract: Complexes of o-vanillin oxime (VO) with iron (II), iron (III), cobalt (II), cobalt (III), nickel (II) and copper (II) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, infrared, electronic spectral, magnetic susceptibility and molar conductivity measurements. VO acts as uninegative bidentate ligand. Except iron (III) and cobalt (III) complexes, all the other complexes are non-electrolytes in dimethylformamide. Coper (II) complex is binuclear with square-pyramidal geometry while iron and cobalt complexes have octahedral geometry. Square-planar geometry has been assigned to nickel (II) complex.
