dc.description.abstract2-Amino-, 3-amino- and 4-amino-benzoic acids react with p-benzoquinone but not with chloranil while durene reacts with chloranil and not with p-benzoquinone to give charge transfer complexes in the solid state reactions. The kinetics follow the rate law ξ2 = kt (where k is the rate constant). The order of reactivities in aminobenzoic acids is: 2- > 4- > 3-. The reactions are diffusion-controlled; the more volatile reactant always diffuses via vapour phase and the other through grain boundaries.en_US
