| Abstract: | The hydrolysis of diethyl p-nitrophenyl thiophosphate (parathion) has been studied using various Cu(II) diamine, complexes as catalysts. Among the complexes Cu(II) perchlorate- tetra methylethylenediamine (1:2) and Cu(II) perchlorate-tetramethylphenylenediamine (1:2) complexes possess highest catalytic activity. The high negative S suggests complex formation between the quo Cu(II) diamine complex and parathion and this is assumed to be the rate-determining step. |
