| Abstract: | Excess dielectric polarization, IR and PMR studies of the mixtures of ethyl iodide with benzene, toluene, o-xylene, m-xylene and p-xylene have been made. Dielectric studies suggest the existence of weak electron donor-acceptor type (EDA) interactions between ethyl iodide and aromatic hydrocarbon molecules. Strength of interaction increases with decrease of ionisation potentials of aromatic hydrocarbons. IR and PMR spectral studies prove the formation of EDA type complexes. |
