Abstract: The DC conduction data on Nb - Nb2O5 - Al, Ag, Sn and Bi systems have been obtained. The effect of field strength, temperature, thickness of the oxide and the polarity of electrode on the DC current have been studied. In all these systems, conduction is asymmetric and there does not appear to be any correlation between critical voltage and work function or work function difference for these metal electrodes. Dominant carrier transport in these systems is through the Schottky conduction mechanism. The same conduction mechanism is operative irrespective of the polarity of the metal electrode (whether Nb is positive or negative).
